The Quilts are
Wonderful! See What's New In Quilting
Every year new and
exciting techniques emerge in the quilt world. We have it
all. Come to Georgia Celebrates Quilts and
discover your favorites.
The best thing about
quilting is the wide range of tastes, skills and interests that can
be expressed. Quilts on display range from the very
traditional, all hand-made Baltimore Album style, some 10 years in
the making, to the most contemporary art pieces of original
design. Artists are able to showcase their diverse talents and
skills in a variety of media using hand or machine work, embroidery
and embellishments.
Come let us share our
love of quilting. There is more than you thought.

We are proud to introduce the judges for this years
show. Both have years of experience in the quilt industry, and
have earned their Judges Certification from the National Quilting
Association.
Carol
Larimer of North Carolina has lectured, taught quiltmaking,
and judged national, regional, and local quilt shows throughout the
Southeast. She also served for five years on the Board of
directors for the National Quilting Association. During
the judging process, Carol believes a judge should be encouraging
and strive to instill confidence and pride in the entrant's
work. She hopes to offer suggestions for improvement as
learning opportunities.
Mary
Walter of Massachusetts has been involved in quilting since
her days in art school almost 30 years ago. She is a founding
member of the quilt artists group, Women Who Run With Scissors, and
a member of the New England Fiber Collective. Mary owned a
successful quilt shop for many years, and then went on to redesign
and manage the shop at the New England Quilt Museum, later becoming
the curator. Mary currently is concentrating on quilt patterns
and her own textile designs with a national fabric
company.

Is Your Quilt In The Show?
If So,
Watch For Your Invitation To The Exclusive NEW Preview
Party
Within the next couple weeks, we will be
mailing the notice of whether your quilts were accepted into the
show. Be sure to read it carefully, because your acceptance
letter will include an invitation to the "NEW and IMPROVED" Preview
Party. It's just for people with quilts in the show, and Guild
members who have worked so hard putting things together.
You'll see the awards given to the winning quilts, and get a special
sneak peek at the entire Quilt Show before the general public comes
in the following morning.
Sally
Macaulay, Director of the Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art, will be our
special guest presenter.
First will
be the Awards Ceremony in the adjacent theater, and then we
will adjourn to the Civic Center and throw open the doors for the
sneak preview. Blue ribbon winners will be invited to pin
their ribbons on their quilts and meet their fans.
Note: The evening of awards and
preview is open only to ECQG members and one guest. Also
invited are non-Guild members with a quilt in the show and their
guest.
Thank You.
This is the 12th
biennial Quilt Show presented by the East Cobb Quilters' Guild.
Quilt lovers from all over the southeast come back year after year.
