Click here to get all the details.  There is even information about nearby restaurants.  Take time to explore Civil War and other historic sites while you're in the Marietta area.  Don't miss the new Trolley.

Friday - Doors open at 10am.
Get up bright and early to come to the 2009 Georgia Celebrates Quilts show.

Be the first in line at your favorite vendors' booth.  See all the latest gadgets and fabrics.  Shop for a new sewing machine!  All the best will be here.

Check out the great one-of-a-kind items in the Small Treasures Auction.  Get your bids in early.

Be sure to buy raffle tickets to win all sorts of goodies.  The beautiful quilt seen to the left, and sewing machines are waiting for you to take them home.  Proceeds support the East Cobb Quilters' Guild quilting education programs.

Order your DVD of the show so you don't have to worry about taking pictures of everything.

Saturday - Visit all the nearby quilt shops.  Take a class or two.  Have your own mini Shop Hop.  These are all exceptional shops, each with their own unique style.  See them all while you're in the area.
Then go back to the show for a leisurly afternoon of enjoying quilts, placing a new bid on your favorite auction item, and looking at that new sewing machine you're surely going to buy.
Head back to your hotel, compare purchases with your quilting buddies, and have a lovely dinner at a nearby restaurant.

Sunday, come back to the show.  Things will have calmed down a little.  Sunday is a great day to really study your favorite quilts.  Take some notes and detailed pictures.  Put your feet up as you relax in a chair overlooking the quilt floor.  It's a wonderful sight.

But don't get too relaxed.  It's time to buy that shiny new sewing machine you've been looking at for the last 3 days!
And the bidding is closing on your favorite auction items.  Be there to enter your winning bids.  The feathers will fly.
Don't miss the excitement as we announce the winners of the Raffle Quilt and the sewing machines.

Binding Needs Improvement!
 Attention Show Entrants

Don't get this comment from the judges.
Take the time now.  Take a class.  Study a book.  Add a contrasting piping.  Could it use Prairie Points? (eeek).  Put the perfect binding on your quilt.  Make it sparkle.

You have taken so much time creating a wonderful quilt, don’t stop at the binding.

Some suggestions:

  • Block the quilt before applying the binding.
  • Cut a test strip of the binding to make sure it’s the right width.  When finished, does it just cover the stitching on the back?
  • Apply the binding with your ‘walking foot’.
  • Check with your local quilt shop for help. They all have great ideas and maybe even a class.

Bonus Tip:  Read all the Entry Rules and Guidelines carefully.  Make sure to enter in the correct category.

Entry Deadline:  June 30, 2009
