Photograph Your Quilt
 Present your quilt in its best light

When you submit your quilt you must send 2 pictures.  One full view and one close-up showing detail.  Take your time here.  These should be good pictures that show off the quilt.  The following tips are from an experienced quilt photographer:

  • To hang the quilt, use a long, straight rod inserted through the 4” sleeve.
  • No hands, fingers, legs or dogs allowed in the picture.
  • Place camera on a tripod if possible.
  • Take the picture outside on a slightly hazy, absolutely windless day.
  • Position the camera directly in front of the quilt so it will look straight, not distorted.
  • If you want to celebrate the quilting, add some additional side lighting.
  • Crop the photo so only the quilt shows, not the garage door. 
Bonus Tip:  Read all the Entry Rules and Guidelines carefully.  Make sure to enter in the correct category.

What Could Be More Fun?

Make it a Weekend

What could be more fun than looking at 400 gorgeous quilts made by fabric artists from all over  Georgia?  How about shopping for fabric, quilting notions and sewing machines with 27 retailers, all under one roof?  Or watching demonstrations of the latest techniques and gadgets?  What about mingling with thousands of other quilters?  You can even bid on terrific small quilted treasures in the Silent Auction. 

How about taking some CLASSES?!  Your editor has it on good authority that quilt shops in the Marietta area are planning to offer some very special classes during the 2009 Georgia Celebrates Quilts show.  What a great way to sneak in a little Shop Hopping during the Quilt Show. Plan now to MAKE IT A WEEKEND. 

Get a busload of your closest friends, and come on down to the show.  We are working with a wonderful nearby hotel to get you some great rates for the weekend.  Sign up to get the next issue of this newsletter so you don’t miss any of the details.
